Workshops, Intensives, and Master Classes

Julia Antinozzi is a choreographer based in New York City, and recently named one of Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch. Her dances work at the intersection between postmodern dance and ballet. In addition to receiving a Fresh Tracks residency from New York Live Arts and the inaugural Trisk Fellowship from Triskelion Arts, Julia has held residencies at The Floor, Little by little, New Dance Alliance, Motive Brooklyn and the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of the New York City Ballet. Her work has also been presented by PAGEANT, Center for Performance Research, Movement Research at the Judson Church, and Live Artery New York Live Arts. She holds a BA in Dance and Astronomy from Smith College.

During Dance Class, we will warm up and move through a series of exercises in preparation for phrase work. We will improvise and learn set movement material. The movement is influenced by (but not defined as) casual ballet and postmodern release techniques. It is form-forward, athletic, pedestrian, rhythmic, specific, sometimes mathematical and dramatic. Through this material, we will practice performing and dancing through and beyond our technique.
