Hatch Dance returns to the Southern Theater with the world premiere of How to Cultivate Your REM Cycle, a haunting and imaginative performance exploring the fragile boundary between sleep and waking life.
Blending dance, theater, live music, text, and projection, the work follows The Sleeper and The Dreamer through disrupted nights, looping thoughts, and the strange inner landscapes. As dreams fracture and time slips, the piece asks what happens when rest becomes impossible — and what we lose when we stop dreaming.
Choreographed by Helen Hatch with text by Jon Ferguson, How to Cultivate Your REM Cycle features performances by Artemis Brown and Joe Tennis, with Juliana Johnson, Connor Simone, and Emily Trapnell, live original music by Joe Strachan with Seth Conover, and projection by Andrew Hatling.
Enter a world of soft attention and sudden interruption. Where nothing stays still for long. Where meaning arrives sideways.
