Concerto Dance is hosting auditions for our upcoming season! Concerto Dance creates jazz and modern dance works driven by musicality and virtuosity aiming to uplift the human spirit through vibrant concert dance.

Friday, August 1 from 4:00-6:00pm
Location: Creo Arts and Dance, Minnetonka, Minnesota

We are seeking versatile dancers who have a strong jazz and modern dance background, possess a high level of musicality, are excellent storytellers, are willing to contribute to the creative process, and who are committed to building community and bringing positivity to the Concerto community.

Dancers will be led in a short warm up followed by a jazz and modern audition combination. Please bring a resume and headshot and be prepared to fill out an audition form including providing any potential schedule conflicts. Dancers who are unable to attend the in-person audition may reach out to info@concertodance.com to inquire about submitting a video audition. Video submissions due August 1.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00am-12:00pm starting August 22.
Visiting Guest Artist Intensives: 2 per year for a 20 hour week, Wednesday-Sunday. Held in January and February.
Performances: November 20-21 at the Bloomington Center for the Arts and March 20-22 at the Southern Theater with additional educational performance opportunities and late spring/early summer performance to be announced prior to audition date.

This season includes two new original jazz dance works by Artistic Director Jolene Konkel including the expanded Tradition, set to a jazz arrangement of selections from the Fiddler on the Roof score, and Konkel’s newest work, Such Sweet Thunder Suite, bringing Shakespeare characters to life through jazz dance. In addition, the season will include works by two visiting guest artists and Company repertoire.

Paid rehearsal and performance stipends offered. Previous performance experience required. Seeking 1-2 women and 2 men ages 18 and older. Looking for a multi-generational cast for the upcoming season. Experienced mid to late career dancers strongly encouraged to audition.

Concerto selects up to 2 apprentices per season. Apprentice roles are for dancers who are interested in gaining experience and developing their artistry who serve as understudies with occasional performance opportunities throughout the season. Apprentice roles are unpaid with performance stipends as applicable.
