Concerto Dance is hosting auditions for our upcoming season! Concerto Dance creates jazz and modern dance works driven by musicality and virtuosity, aiming to uplift the human spirit through vibrant concert dance. We are seeking versatile dancers who have a strong jazz and modern dance background, possess a high level of musicality, are excellent storytellers, are willing to contribute to the creative process, and are committed to building community.

Audition: Friday, August 1 from 4:00-6:00pm
Dancers will be led in a short warm-up followed by a jazz and modern audition combination. Please bring a resume and headshot, and be prepared to fill out an audition form, including providing any potential schedule conflicts. Dancers who are unable to attend the in-person audition may reach out to info@concertodance.com to inquire about submitting a video audition. Video submissions are due August 1. Rehearsals: Starting August 22, Wednesdays/Fridays, 9:00am-12:00pm
Two Visiting Guest Artist Intensives: Held in January and February, 1 week Wednesday-Sunday
Performances: November 20-21 at Bloomington Center for the Arts and March 20-22 at the Southern Theater, with additional educational performance opportunities and a late spring/early summer performance to be announced prior to the audition date.

This season includes two new original jazz dance works by Artistic Director Jolene Konkel, including the expanded Tradition, set to a jazz arrangement of selections from the Fiddler on the Roof score, and Konkel’s newest theater-dance work set to Duke Ellington’s Such Sweet Thunder Suite, that explores the universal themes of freedom, love, conflict, agency, and community through the intersection of Shakespearean drama and American jazz, along with works by two visiting guest artists and company repertory.

Paid rehearsal and performance stipends offered. Previous performance experience required. Seeking 1-2 women and 2 men ages 18 and older. Looking for a multi-generational cast for the upcoming season. Experienced mid to late career dancers strongly encouraged to audition. Concerto selects up to 2 apprentices per season. Apprentice roles are for dancers who are interested in gaining experience and developing their artistry while serving as understudies with occasional performance opportunities throughout the season. Apprentice roles are unpaid with performance stipends as applicable.
