Workshops, Intensives, and Master Classes
Join Black Label Movement for a three day intensive full physicality, improvisation, repertory, and discussion designed to deepen each participants’ embodied practice. This intensive includes learning repertoire from the world premiere of Rules of Life, which opens the following weekend.

Intensive participants must be 16+ and have at least an intermediate level of contemporary experience.

Black Label is a Minnesota dance company that makes wildly physical, naturally virtuosic, intellectually and emotionally engaging movement driven art and embodied activities that examine and engage the human condition to inspire vivid lives. The company is a regional Emmy Award winner, multiple Minneapolis Sage-Award winner, has received “Dance Company of the Year” from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, been called City Pages “Artist of the Year,” been commissioned twice by American Dance Festival, and toured or offered workshops and residencies in Florida (University of Florida), Washington D.C., Brussels (Belgium), California, Martha’s Vineyard, Bangalore (India), Bates Dance Festival, Guthrie Theater (Minneapolis), Duluth (Minnesota), Chicago, Texas (University of North Texas) and New York City.

Friday, January 9
5:30-8:00pm: Welcome, warm up, and introduction to Bodystorming
8:00- 9:00pm: Dinner and social hour
Saturday, January 10
9:00-10:30am: Company class with Carl or a company mover
10:45am-12:15pm: Partnering class with Carl
12:15-1:00pm: Break/Lunch
1:00-4:00pm: Repertory with Carl and/or mover
4:00-4:30pm: Q&A with Carl and the movers about BLaM
Sunday, January 11
9:00-10:30am: Company class with Carl or a mover
10:45am-12:15pm: Partnering class with Carl
12:15-1:00pm: Break/Lunch
1:00-4:00pm: Repertory with Carl or mover
4:00-4:30pm: Free showing of repertory open to the public
