Auditions, Jobs, and Certifications
The Walker Art Center and guest curator jess pretty are seeking Minnesota dance-makers working in all forms to present their work as part of Choreographers’ Evening on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Now in its 52nd year, this annual dance showcase celebrates Minnesota’s vibrant and diverse dance community with powerful performances by a roster of local choreographers and movement artists. This year’s program is curated by dancer, dance-maker, and educator jess pretty. See the audition announcement for more information, and to sign up for an audition time.
Audition Information
• Choreographers must live in Minnesota.
• Works typically range from three to six minutes in length and should not exceed seven minutes.
• Collaborations and ensembles are welcome to audition.
• Works-in-progress are accepted. This can include a live sketch, video viewing at audition, images, fabrics, or other materials to communicate the work in its completion.
• Live auditions are preferred; however, video submissions will be accepted.
• Please audition with the same work that you would like to present
August 22-24, 2024: In-person auditions.
Mid-September 2024: Artists notified of final decisions.
October 2024: Group or individual photo shoots, schedule to be determined.
November 25-26, 2024: Tech rehearsals between noon and 10:00pm*
November 30, 2024: Dress rehearsal at 10:00am*; public performances at 4:00pm and 7:30pm
*There is a possibility dress rehearsal may be scheduled for Tuesday, November 26t rather than the morning of November 30. This will be finalized once choreographers have been selected.
