Performances and Events

One hundred semaphore flags form a temporary field across the island of Silverwood Park. During a durational performance, the field is slowly gathered into a shared vessel, transforming a dispersed landscape into a collective action of attention.

“100 Rivers: Signals of Repair” is an 18-month public art project that transforms communities into places of listening through installation, performance, and participation. The September 12, 12:30pm iteration is presented as part of Silverwood Park’s annual Field Trip Art and Nature Festival, featuring live outdoor music, local artists with Minneapolis Craft Market, guided art and nature activities with Silverwood educators, and food trucks, ice cream, and beverage vendors. This outdoor event is free, for all ages, and you may drop in anytime.

“100 Rivers: Signals of Repair” is also presented in conjunction with Sacred Waters, Shared Future and MR100, two centennial initiatives examining how the Mississippi River’s waters, ecology, management, and use have changed over the last century. Looking ahead to the next 100 years, the project asks a simple question: What is the River saying to us today?
