Spring MoveTogethers with Rhythmically Speaking

Wanna get jazzy with the Rhythmically Speaking crew? Come dance with us at our Spring MoveTogethers!

Mondays, 3:30-5:00pm
March 11, March 25, and April 8
The Cowles Center – Studio 5B

MoveTogethers are drop-in and $10-$15 sliding scale, paid via cash or Venmo after class. You can let us know you are coming by pre-paying.

MoveTogethers are our version of a company class, but more collaborative – within these classes, there are opportunities to improvise in solo and social ways, to manipulate material offered by RS Artistic and Executive Director Erinn Liebhard, and to build and manipulate your own material based around jazz and American social dance-inspired prompts! Our approach to jazz emphasizes groove, interaction and improvisation (elements we see as present in all American social dance forms), honors the African diasporic roots of these forms, and is driven by jazz music.

We are excited to open our company MoveTogethers up to the public once again this spring so pre-professional and professional dancers in our community can join in the jazz.

Hope to groove with you!

TU Dance Center: Contemporary Experiment Classes with Leslie Parker

Please join us at TU Dance Center for two open classes with Leslie Parker! The classes are focused towards intermediate to advanced experiences, although all bodies and dance experiences are welcomed.

Contemporary Experiment is a class session in improvisation. The focus of the class is primarily the individual body as a site/map for exploration. It is an embodied practice that expands capacity for a more nuanced, rigorous, and sensory approach to space, time, and energy to integrate the thinking-body with real-time presence; and to play with physical range while increasing flexibility of the spine for a deepening in awareness of strength and endurance. In this class, empathetic exchanges using collaboration in movement studies are significant to amplify grounded power, intuitive connection to the body and place, navigating dissent, and honing clarity in timing and rhythm.
