Ballet Royale is offering three separate summer intensive programs for talented and focused ballet students. In-person and online options are available all summer long!

June 7-25:  Spring Into Summer, featuring Progressing Ballet Technique®
Audition Required. Intermediate/Advanced through Professional. Recommended ages: 11-26 years old.

July 5-23: Full Day Summer Intensive – a collaboration with Twin Cities Ballet
Four progressive divisions: I, II, Advanced Division II and UPPER for ages eight through professional. Variable length, including ballet-only, and online-only options available. Audition required for Division II (age nine) and up.

An exciting three-week, full day rigorous ballet-based dance program featuring Artistic Directors Denise and Rick Vogt, with Master and Guest teachers. Ballet Royale offers small class sizes, so each student will receive the finest personalized professional instruction, allowing them to reach his or her full potential. Students attending the full in-studio program will be highlighted in an end of program Summer Showcase performance.

Classes include ballet technique, pointe, preparation for pointe, modern, jazz, character, variations, men’s class, Progressing Ballet Technique®, hip hop, acting, choreographic methods, history of ballet, stretching, injury prevention, plus enrichment classes.

August 2-13: August Grand Prix Solos and Variations
Audition required. Pre-competitive, Junior, and Senior divisions. Workshop for intermediate (ages nine and up) through professionals.

Ballet Royale introduces a focused ballet and variations workshop specializing in preparing dancers for performing or competing in national ballet competitions. Following daily classical ballet technique class, dancers learn classic ballet variations and receive advanced personal coaching. All dancers will perform a classical variation in front of a panel of judges and will be scored. Scored sheets will be handed to each dancer privately.

Young Dance Summer Classes and Camps – Registration Open

Discover movement possibilities with Young Dance this summer!

Registration is now open for summer classes and camps in Creative Movement, World Dance Forms, Ballet, Hip Hop, Modern, and more. Summer programs are offered in a hybrid format, unless otherwise noted in registration, with both in-person and online options for participation.

Classes and camps include:
Creative Movement 1 – Ages three to five
Creative Movement 2 – Ages five to seven
Dance a Story – Creative Movement and Storytelling Adventure! – Ages four to seven
Dance Together – Ages one to three with a caregiver
Create! Dance and Photography Camp – Ages eight to fifteen
Dance Pass to Explore – Allows dancers to drop in and experience a variety of classes – Ages seven and older
All Abilities Dance and Stories – Ages seven and older

Six Saturdays of Open Ballet with Justin Leaf

Justin Leaf is teaching six Saturdays of open Intermediate-Advanced Ballet in studio 2B at The Cowles Center, May 15 through June 19. Preregistration is required.

You can preregister for all six Saturdays through May 11, or beginning May 12 you can register for single classes. Space is limited. A virtual option will not be offered. Register in advance to secure your spot: http://justinleaf.com/classes. Classes will not be available for purchase onsite.

Open Intermediate-Advanced Ballet with Justin Leaf
May 15, 22, 29; June 5, 12, 19
10:15–11:45am

The studio will be available 15 minutes before and after class for warm-up/stretching. While student capacity is limited, all musical accompaniment for class will be prerecorded. Open to ages fourteen and up.

COVID SAFETY:
• Maximum nine students per class.
• Masks must be worn over nose and mouth throughout class and at all times while in the building.
• Dressing rooms will not be available. (There are bathrooms available if needed, but it’s advised that you come dressed to dance.)
• Please observe physical distancing at all times in the studio.
• Please don’t come to class if you’re experiencing any Covid symptoms or if you’ve been around anyone with symptoms.
• The Cowles Center staff disinfects the space before and after class.
• Registered students will be sent a health-screen form in the 24 hours leading up to the class. It can be completed online or in person before class begins.

Threads Dance Connections Summer Intensive is Open for Early Enrollment

Threads Dance Project is excited to announce the return of our unique summer intensive experience! Even more exciting is that this year’s intensive will serve as a preliminary workshop where students can get early practice with audition material in preparation for our upcoming audition for our new pre-professional dance training program, Youth Dance Project (YDP), scheduled for July 31.

Our Dance Connections 2021 Summer Intensive includes developmentally appropriate movement classes in ballet, modern, creative movement, composition/choreography, improvisation, and hip hop. We are especially eager for your student to experience the distinctive arts activism and dance history course that gives our summer intensive its name!

Pre-Professional Summer Jazz Intensive with Collide

July 19-23 and July 26-30, 2021
Ages sixteen and older.

Train with some of the Twin Cities top talents in theatrical jazz dance while taking your dance and performing skills to the next level. Our program is tailored to meet the individual goals and needs of EACH dancer. ALL ARE WELCOME.

Classes take place at the Collide Studio and virtually.

Monday-Friday, 9:30am-3:30pm

Daily Class Sample Schedule:
9:30-11:00am: Ballet Technique
11:00-12:30pm: Jazz Technique
12:30-3:30pm: Classes in Acting, Commercial Jazz, African, Contemporary, Hip Hop and more!

Teachers include Chelsea Rose, Allyson Richert, Katie Bradley, Emily Madigan and more! The two-week intensive culminates with an opportunity to audition for Collide’s 2021/2022 Performing Apprentice Program.

Pilates Chair
Prerequisite: Reformer 3 or Reformer certificate

The Balanced Body Pilates Chair training includes exercises and variations for both the original Wunda chair and the split pedal Combo chair. The chair is great for doing strengthening work with athletic clients and as an addition to group programming in combination with the Mat. This course includes exercises and programming for both personal training sessions and classes.

Pilates Barrels & Small Apparatus
Prerequisite: Reformer 3 or Reformer certification

The Balanced Body Barrels training includes exercises and variations for the Ladder Barrel and Step Barrel. The Step Barrel and Ladder Barrel add variety to personal training sessions or classes. This course includes exercises and programming for both personal training sessions and classes.

Trapeze Table/Cadillac/Tower
Prerequisite: Reformer 3 or Reformer certificate

The Balanced Body Trapeze Table/Cadillac/Tower training provides a thorough introduction to Trapeze Table and Tower exercises as well as applications for beginning, post-rehabilitation and advanced clients. This training is appropriate for students working with the Allegro® or Allegro 2 Tower of Power®, Half Trapeze and Wall Tower as well as those working with full Trapeze Tables. Sequencing programs using multiple pieces of equipment are covered as well as equipment set up, safety and maintenance.
