Raising the Barre for Mental Health – A Dance Teacher Workshop Series

Mental health is as important as physical health for healthy, happy dancers. Minding the Gap presents a workshop curated in five sessions, each presented by an accredited professional.

Remaining session dates are:

#4 – March 20, 2022
Productive, proactive communication. How to engage students and dancers on the tough topics and disappointments. Presenter: Jackson Jirard, M.Ed – Education psychology specialist and dance educator, associate director of Urban Improv at Rehearsal For Life in Massachusetts.

#5 – April 3, 2022
How to support an injured dancer. Best practices to get the dancer back into the studio strong both mentally and physically. Presenter: Marissa Schaeffer, PT, DPT, CSCS – licensed physical therapist and NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in New York City.

Threads Dance Nexus Renting Now

Threads Dance Nexus – A Space to Connect and Create

The Threads Dance Nexus is a brand new community hub that not only provides a home for Threads Dance Project, but also strengthens the social fabric of our Minneapolis community through the connective power of dance.

Our 1,480 square foot space has:

  • A professional-grade speaker sound system
  • Sprung floors, barres, and mirrors
  • ADA compliant, two gender-neutral changing rooms
  • Large windows and garage door allowing for an abundance of natural light and fresh air

Conveniently located in the Seward neighborhood, we offer free parking and free side street parking. We are a five-minute walk from the Franklin Light Rail Station, and a 2-5 minute walk from the nearest bus stops (lines 2, 9, 22, 67).

To request space, please email nexusrentals@threadsdance.org. A nonrefundable deposit equal to one hour at the renter’s base rate is due to secure space.

Rent the Young Dance Studios

Young Dance has two large studios available for rent in the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul. Easily accessible by the Green Line light rail, the 16 and 67 Bus Lines, and with ample parking in the Fairview Business Center parking lot. The space is fully ADA accessible with ramps to the sprung studio floor and automatic door openers.

Rentals are available:

  • 9 am – 3 pm,  Monday through Friday
  • After 4 pm on Saturday
  • All day on Sundays

The studios are newly equipped with:

  • Sprung Harlequin Marley flooring
  • Bluetooth speaker system and wifi
  • Please note: there are no mirrors.

The studio has a clear COVID safety plan including regular disinfecting of all floors and surfaces, as well as a new HVAC system which refreshes the air 7-8 times per hour. Renters will also have access to a large lobby (25’ x 29’) and up to 50 chairs.

Studio 1: Measures 41′ x 38′ and rents at $25/hour

Studio 2: Measures 38′ x 38′ and rents at $20/hour

The Arena – Space for Rent

Located in the heart of the LynLake community, The Arena is available for your rehearsal, class and event needs!

Our space offers:

  • 1,305 square feet (30×40) of sprung floor
  • Marley dance flooring
  • Full wall-length mirrors (with curtains for covering if preferred)
  • Free wi-fi
  • Changing room

We are situated on multiple bus lines, including the 21, 4, 23, 612, 18, with plenty of free street parking around the building.

Renting TU Dance Center Studios

TU Dance Center is available for rental when not in use by TU Dance’s programming.

TU Dance Center features:

  • Reception area and front desk for check-in or event use
  • Access to adjacent dressing room and green room with kitchenette are available upon request

Studio 1: 60 x 34
Studio 2: 46 x 21

Studio 1 only: a curtain that can be drawn on entire mirror; wall-mounted ballet barres of 27′ and 33′.

Both studios feature:

  • Sprung dance floor with Marley-type surface by Harlequin
  • Wall of mirrors, portable ballet barre units 10′ in length, room-level sound system with CD and mini-jack inputs, 50′ LCD TV cart for presentation and videoconferencing
  • Large windows providing ample natural light

Rental Fees:
Individual Artists: $18/hour
Nonprofit Organizations: $22/hour – rehearsals
Other rental inquiries (for-profit, classes, workshops, auditions, life events, photo sessions, filming, etc.), please contact us.

Studio Space Available in South Minneapolis

Over 2000 square feet with windows, two mirrored walls, and a sprung hardwood floor – we are fully set up to handle your online Zoom classes and have many morning and daytime openings for you to come and hold or record your classes or rehearsals!

The Jawaahir Dance Company Minneapolis location is conveniently located at 3010 Minnehaha Ave in The Hook and Ladder building. Only two blocks from the Lake Street/Midtown light rail station, and on the 7, 21, 27, and 53 bus routes. Off-street parking and bike rack. $20 per hour.*

Studio Rentals at Collide Theatrical in St. Paul

Need space to rehearse, choreograph, teach, or hold an event? Collide Theatrical has two studios available for rental in our beautiful St. Paul location!

Studio 1

  • 1700 square feet of sprung floor
  • Full wall-length mirrors
  • Rosco Adagio Marley dance floor
  • High ceilings, sky lights, and three chandeliers

Studio 2

  • 550 square feet of sprung wood floor

Both studios have the following amenities:

  • Ballet barres for up to 18 students
  • Free and accessible parking and access to public transportation line
  • Gender-specific bathrooms (non-gender-specific bathroom available in the adjacent building)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth room speakers
  • Cubbies for holding shoes and clothes
  • Two long folding tables
  • Access to up to 30 folding chairs
  • HVAC heated and cooled spaces with temperature control
  • Hallway drinking fountains
  • Access to kitchenette area available upon request

Single Rental:
Studio 1 – $30/hour
Studio 2 – $20/hour

Long-Term or Multiple-Day Rental:
Studio 1 – $20/hour
Studio 2 – $15/hour

Payment for rental bookings must be made 48 hours prior to your booking to hold your reservation. A signed rental agreement and certificate of insurance must be provided prior to your reservation.
