Sampradaya – Ensemble Bharatanatyam Concert by Kala Vandanam

Sampradaya The Sanskrit word is by definition, “tradition.” In practice, it represents transference while infusing innovation. Tradition sustains beauty and provides foundation and framework. From tradition, we imbibe, create, iterate, and share. Sampradaya lights the next lamp.

Kala Vandanam presents a twentieth anniversary (in our twenty-first year) ensemble Bharatanatyam concert with live music, celebrating signature choreographic works of the great masters who lit our lamps.

We are honored to make our Cowles Center debut with this concert.
Tickets are Pay As You Are from $15-$95.

Off-Leash Area’s Seventh Annual Neighborhood Garage Tour

Off-Leash Area is thrilled to announce the 2023 Neighborhood Garage Tour, our grass-roots, out-of-the-box neighborhood performance program! For over seven years Off-Leash Area has been bringing original contemporary theater and dance to neighborhoods across the Twin Cities metro, delighting over 3,500 Minnesotans in over 40 diverse communities.

This year’s touring production is “The Medicine Show of the 25th Century,” where in the distant future we follow a troupe of A.I.-hybrid humanoids on a quest to find the mythical “perfect human being”. To fuel their quest, they travel from town to town, hawking a cure-all elixir to an audience desperate for solutions to the world’s toughest problems.

With direction and choreography by OLA Co-Artistic Director Jennifer Ilse, set and projections by OLA Co-Artistic Director Paul Herwig, sound and music by Gabriel Rodereick (Freaque), performances by these artists plus long-time OLA cast member Jesse Schmitz-Boyd, lights and technical direction by Jenny Moeller, and costuming by “Melancholy” and “Pistachio“.

With “The Medicine Show of the 25th Century” Off-Leash Area invites neighbors of all ages to a fun and imaginative tale told with both raucous comedy and whimsical beauty. Join us for a neighborhood gathering on a beautiful autumn evening in the most surprising and midwestern of venues – a two-car residential garage – where we prepare together to take off on an adventure of the imagination far, far into the future!

Throughout the Metro from September 8 through October 1. Price: $5-$20.
Visit the website for exact dates, times, and locations.

Summer Soiree Benefit for ARENA DANCES

Join us for a night of summer celebration!

Our roaring Summer Soiree will raise support for our upcoming world premiere of Erased Steps, coming to the historic Union Depot in downtown Saint Paul this August. A dance-theatre work, Erased Steps is inspired by visual artist Eve Sussman, a British-born American creator of film, video, installation, sculpture, and photography. The dancer’s relationships are gradually revealed through the work’s deft abstraction, incorporating dance, visual symbolism, and imaginative staging to an original score by local composer Zack Baltich.

The evening will be filled with 1920’s inspired bite-sized apps by Create Catering, libations, an experiential silent auction, fresh fashion by MartinPatrick 3…and an exclusive sneak peek of Erased Steps by ARENA DANCES!

Thursday, June 15, 6:00–9:00pm
at MartinPatrick 3
FREE to attend!
Includes appetizers and drinks, with performances by ARENA DANCES
