Ongoing Classes at Ananya Dance Theatre

Wednesday Water Dances
Wednesday, 9:30-11:00am with Kealoha Ferreira
A weekly dedication to the vitality and life force of Water. We will offer breath, dance, meditation, story, song, and reflection in class. Each class will take shape a little differently, staying responsive to the ongoing movements protecting the value and longevity of water worldwide. Facilitated by Kealoha Ferreira, an Ananya Dance Theatre Artist, Wednesday Water Dances will begin with grounding movement, flow into dedicated time for personal practice/research/reflection, and close with collective sharing. All committed to deepening their relationship with water are welcome to participate.

Yorchhā* Elements
Saturdays, 3:00-4:00pm with Kealoha Ferreira
Envision justice through rhythmic footwork, flowing torso, and sustained breath in Intro to Yorchhā. Each class begins with a warm-up followed by foundational Yorchhā exercises and a fun choreographed phrase.

*Yorchhā is Ananya Dance Theatre’s trade-marked contemporary technique that intersects principles of vinyasa yoga, classical Indian dance form Odishi (from the eastern Indian state of Odisha), and martial art form Chhau (also from Odisha).

Yoga: Aligning With Land at Frogtown Farms in St. Paul this Sunday, September 18
Sundays, 3:00-4:00pm with Kealoha Ferreira
From Tadasana (mountain pose), the first asana in Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) A, we connect our feet to the ground and shift our internal landscape to find equity with the land that sustains us. Our practices of relationality and reciprocity are also building blocks for sustainable and regenerative body practices. This Vinyasa class introduces and deepens the fundamentals of structural and energetic alignment in Yoga while moving toward right relationship between place and community. All are welcome to participate. Variations and modifications will be provided for multiple access points in each class. Mats and blocks are encouraged, with limited supplies available at the Institute.

Ballet Royale Classes Start September 10

You are invited to dance with Ballet Royale, Minnesota’s premier ballet academy!

This year, we are offering two different tracks for dancers 7 and up: our Academy Program and our new Pre-Professional Program. Both the Pre-Professional and Academy programs will be taught by our exemplary faculty and continue to give your dancer the highest quality professional training available today, in a focused, safe, and healthy environment.

Our Academy program is for students age seven and older. This program follows an elementary through advanced/intermediate ballet syllabus, and includes modern/contemporary, preparation for pointe, performance/musical theater jazz, an elite solos/variations class, and pointe classes for the higher levels. All levels include repertoire training, in which students learn choreography and dances. New students with prior dance training seeking to enter Youth Ballet 1 or higher are required to have a personal evaluation by the school faculty for placement.

Our new Pre-Professional program provides a more rigorous and demanding training schedule, designed for students ages 7-21 striving towards a professional or post-secondary dance career. Admission to the Pre-Professional Program and our Professional Division are by audition and invitation only. Please visit our website for more information and audition information.

We would love for you to come dance with us!
