Walker Art Center Open Call For Choreographers’ Evening 2021 – Deadline

The Walker Art Center and guest curator Valerie Oliveiro invite Minnesota makers to propose dances as part of Choreographers’ Evening on November 27, 2021, at 4:00 and 7:00pm. Choreographers’ Evening is an annual event celebrating Minnesota’s dynamic dance and performance communities.

Forms must be submitted by August 6, 11:59 pm.

Audition Information:

  • Choreographers must live in Minnesota.
  • Works typically range from 3 to 6 minutes in length and should not exceed 7 minutes.
  • Works-in-progress are accepted. This can include a live sketch, video viewing at audition, images, fabrics, or other materials to communicate the work in its completion.
  • Please audition with the same work that you would like to present.
  • Live auditions are strongly preferred; however, video submissions will be accepted.

Twin Cities Ballet Open Company Positions

Twin Cities Ballet has an open position for a male company dancer, Soloist and Principal level. Competitive salaried position, 34-week season. Strong classical ballet and contemporary technique required. 

Submit the following audition materials by email:

  • Two photos: first arabesque; and a headshot showing at least 3/4 face. Either attach small format photos or provide a link.
  • Video link showing classwork or performance clips, clearly demonstrating your classical ballet technique.

Young Dance Seeks Marketing and Communications Director

Young Dance, a Twin Cities dance education nonprofit whose mission is to transform lives through movement, seeks a Marketing and Communications Director, to begin August 2021.

The MCD will spearhead print and web-based communications related to programming, events, fundraising, and marketing. They will collaborate with other staff to create engagement with new communities, specifically BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities.

Founded in 1987, we believe young people are artists with something important to say and that working across differences is a benefit to all. Our five part-time employees work in close collaboration to develop and implement a long-term vision aligned with our mission and values. We place a strong emphasis on access, representation, and transparency.

This position is a 0.45 FTE position with an annual salary of $17,500.

Position Open for Ballroom Dance Instructor

TC Dance is located in Appleton, WI. The club has been open for 40 years and is well known about the community.

There is an opportunity for a dance instructor. Experience is preferred, however, there is no need for experience and we will train to the TC Dance method of teaching ballroom dance.

There would be a need to relocate.

Threads Dance Project Audition: Registration Deadline TODAY, Audition on July 16

Threads Dance Project is seeking a racially/ethnically diverse group of dancers ages 21 and older for the 2021-22 season. Men, women, and gender fluid dancers encouraged to apply. Threads is seeking versatile dancers that are quick learners and are fluent in a variety of dance forms. Dancer contracts begin August 9.

Borealis Dance Theatre Auditions

Borealis Dance Theatre is seeking adult dancers and actors who move well to join the company for the upcoming 2021 season. BDT is a dance theatre company that creates large scale storytelling onstage through voice, movement, and collaborative process. Dancers who have advanced experience in any dance form are invited to audition. Actors will need to come prepared with a dramatic monologue in addition to the movement audition.

Registration is required prior to audition.
Audition is Sunday, August 1: 10:00am-12:00pm.

Administrative Coordinator
Reports to Associate Director and Operations Manager

Job Summary
The Administrative Coordinator will support the daily administrative work of Upstream Arts, a mid-sized nonprofit that values and leverages creativity and collaboration in a busy work environment. The Administrative Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining an effective organizational workflow, utilizing the many systems in place to support the many facets of the day to day activities of the organization.

Work Conditions:

  • Upstream Arts’ office is an open (no walls) office environment.
  • This position offers a blend of both in person and remote work opportunities.
  • Starting at 30 hours with potential for full-time with benefits.
  • $18 – $21/hour, depending on experience.
  • Need to be available between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm.

Essential Duties
Provide essential administrative support to all employees including:

Operations and Human Resources
Provide support/act as a liaison to vendors for the management of our Business Insurance, Workers Comp, Health and Retirement plans including:

  • Renewals
  • Open Enrollment periods
  • Staff reporting
  • Compliance
  • Support for new employee onboarding including staff manual updates and distribution
  • Maintains personnel/human resources records
  • PTO tracking
  • General administrative support and duties as assigned including filing, data entry, supply ordering, management of office equipment, and communication with vendors.

Program

  • Communications support with Upstream Arts’ 30+ Teaching Artists
  • Scheduling and tracking of program evaluations, media releases and partner meetings
  • Utilize the organizational database to build records for programs, trainings and meetings
  • Coordinates staff meetings and arranges logistics for staff trainings
  • Program supply ordering

Special Event Coordination/ Support

  • Venue booking for Annual Fundraiser and other community events.
  • Event logistics and coordination support

Finance

  • Administrative bookkeeping including tracking of receipts, credit cards, and annual audit support.

Travel Arrangements

  • Coordinate travel arrangements including airline ticket booking, lodging, and car rental–potentially three to five annual trips.

Experience

  • Effective communicator possessing high level of diplomacy
  • At least 2+ years of administrative or related experience
  • Preferred, not required: Stage Management (Theater)

Skills/Interest

  • Familiarity with databases, File Maker Pro a plus
  • Microsoft Office
  • Quickbooks ideal, but not critical
  • Collaborative work environment with lots of moving pieces
  • Interest in nonprofit administration
