Red Eye presents KIN Artists Partnerships, a four part series of national dance artists that pass through Red Eye with one animating principle: relationship. Enduring relationship.
Allie Hankins is based in Portland. Minneapolis has shaped her—she has spent years dancing and teaching—Allie has taught in MN, danced in the work of MN choreographers and was a participant of SCUBA (now closed) when the program was grounded at the Southern Theater. Her return through KIN brings By My Own Hand, Part 5: INVISIBLE TOUCH—the final installment of a five-part performance series that queers autobiography and self-reflection. A quintet featuring Linda Austin, claire barrera, keyon gaskin, Lu Yim, and Takahiro Yamamoto, the work moves through deconstruction, distillation, resurrection, and re-membering to confront finality, authorship, and the perception of self. This ensemble tells a story: these are longtime collaborators, co-organizers, and co-stewards of experimental performance communities across Portland and beyond.
