Workshops, Intensives, and Master Classes

Move. Improvise. Create! 6-8 spaces still available!

Register now for the 2026 Movement Fundamentals (MF) Summer Coalescence! Rooted in the work of Jane Hawley, Movement Fundamentals provides tools for embodied research, personal agency, and collaborative creation. Open to dancers (all levels and styles), theater artists, performance makers, somatic practitioners and educators, musicians and vocalists, and anyone interested in embodied creative practice. A variety of sessions will be offered by MF-certified artists, as well as a mini film festival with guest filmmaker and a closing reception. We will meet in the beautiful dance studios of Carleton College with visits to the lush campus Arboretum.

Thursday, July 23—Saturday, July 25
9:00am-5:00pm
Location: Carleton College in Northfield
Host: Judith Howard (MF Certified Artist)
Cost: $250 for 3 full days, $90 one-day. Contact Judith Howard for payment plans or tuition adjustments if needed.

MF Coalescence is not a technique class. It’s a co-creative intensive where participants:

  • Engage in improvisational movement practices
  • Investigate their personal relationship to space, body, and others
  • Explore movement as both an artistic and healing practice
  • Collaborate across disciplines in a non-hierarchical space
  • Build community through shared physical inquiry and reflection

Information and registration found here. Contact Judith Howard jhoward@carleton.edu for details if needed prior to registration.
