Workshops, Intensives, and Master Classes
Join Angel Murray, founder and director of the Minnesota Maroonettes—the first collegiate majorette dance team at the University of Minnesota—for an energetic introduction to HBCU-inspired majorette dance at Hothouse.
Majorette is a high-energy dance style rooted in Southern Black collegiate traditions, blending elements of jazz, hip-hop, precision movements, performance quality, and dynamic musicality. This class offers dancers the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of majorette technique while building confidence, stage presence, and performance skills in a supportive and empowering environment.
Participants will learn stylized combinations inspired by contemporary Historically Black Colleges’ and Universities’ (HBCU) majorette culture, with an emphasis on musicality, movement quality, and self-expression.
Tuesday, July 8 from 6:40-8:50pm
Monday, July 27 from 5:30-7:45pm
Location: Hothouse
Class Tickets: $10
Intermediate and advanced movers are encouraged to attend, though all dancers interested in experiencing the energy and artistry of majorette are welcome.
