Performances and Events

Join us at Gold Medal Park for an immersive exploration of the Mississippi River through dance and music on Friday, June 26.

From the Sediment is an experimental dance work created and directed by choreographer and transdisciplinary artist Elizabeth Flinsch. This raw and spirited piece brings together a collaboration of musicians and movers to evoke an ethereal world forming and disintegrating in real time. Blurring the lines between observer and participant, audience members will be invited to join a procession down the spiral path in the park. The performance delves into the complex relationship between human control and the wildness of the Mississippi River, inviting audiences to reflect on environmental themes and our impact on nature.

The performance incorporates improvisation-based dance featuring choreographer/director Elizabeth Flinsch and movement collaborator Jesse Schmitz-Boyd as well as live music by Morgan Schoonover and Oliver-Moon Pendragon. The event will conclude with a participatory procession in collaboration with movement artist Connor Berkompas. In this outdoor space, the minimalist set design includes wood sculptures crafted by Flinsch, symbolizing natural elements along the river.
