Concerto Dance returns to the Southern Theater, March 20-22 for Such Sweet Thunder.
The program features repertory work Ginastera Suite by Steve Rooks, former principal dancer with Martha Graham, honoring the 100th anniversary of the Martha Graham Company, alongside a dynamic new iteration of Footfall by visiting guest artist Joe Chvala. Artistic Director Jolene Konkel premieres two new jazz dance works, including Jamboree—a high-energy, joy-filled celebration bursting with music and movement, and Sweet Thunder Suite, a bold new work inspired by Shakespeare’s women and the stories they were never allowed to tell.
Featuring: Hunter Batterson, Morgen Chang, Malia Craft, Allison Durham, Maddy Harper, Peter Hoffman, Doug Hooker, Sara Karimi, Helena Magalhães, MiKayla Scherping, Kate Sebes, Nate Stevens, Brandyn Tapio, with guest artists Karla Grotting, and Heather Klopchin.
