Black Lives Rising Dance Film Festival

This virtual program celebrates the fourth Black Lives Rising Dance Film Festival. This year’s highlight is Canadian dance documentary Shades, which explores coloursim/shadeism within the Black community.
2025 Official Selections hail from all around the world, including Benin, Germany, New Jersey, Denmark, Ohio, Brazil, and New York City. Dance styles include Nigerian Street Dance from Nigerian Dance ensemble, the Supa rich kids, hip hop, house and Krump by New Jersey based movement artist Quilan Que Arnold of The onQUE Company, contemporary ballet, traditional dance from Benin, West Africa, Maracatu & Makulelê (Brazilian dances or African origin), and modern pedestrian fusion.
